Day 2: Adventure & Wildlife
Morning – Birdwatching & Kayaking
Wake up early to spot rare birds with your binoculars, then paddle around Bush Key, which is seasonally open. A high-quality pair of binoculars makes birdwatching more immersive, while dry bags protect gear while kayaking.
Midday – Fishing & Scuba Diving
Scuba diving is an incredible experience at Dry Tortugas, though it requires arriving via private boat or charter. Those opting for diving should bring their own scuba gear. Fishing is allowed in designated areas, so packing fishing gear ensures a successful catch.
Afternoon – Guided Tour & Sunset Paddleboarding
Join a guided tour of Fort Jefferson, then paddleboard at sunset for a peaceful experience. An inflatable paddleboard is easier to transport, while a GoPro or waterproof camera captures incredible moments.
Evening – Campfire Dinner & Storytelling
A fresh-cooked meal under the stars is a perfect way to close the day. A portable camping stove makes meal prep easy, while reusable plates and cups help minimize waste.
Day 3: Departure & Final Exploration
Morning – Packing Up & Snorkeling
Enjoy one last snorkel session before departure. Bringing trash bags isn’t necessary if you take the ferry as they will provide them to you along with instructions for packing out all waste. Water is scarce here, so water purification tablets serve as a valuable backup.
Midday – Return to Key West
Board the ferry or seaplane back to civilization, carrying home unforgettable memories.
